Sharing an insurance overview: what does it mean?

A limited overview, two separate choices. Distinguish sharing in Forsio from permission to manage someone else's insurance.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Helping someone read a policy letter is not the same as permission to sign in or change an agreement for them. Start by distinguishing understanding information, sharing an overview and representing someone with an insurer.

Share with someone in My Forsio is a separate choice for adults who share a home and have their own BankID. It provides a limited view of the overview according to the choices in the app. It is not a power of attorney to buy, cancel or change insurance. [1]

Keep these points in mind

  • Each person uses their own BankID.
  • Read who can see what before approving.
  • You can stop sharing your information without controlling the other person's choice.

STEP BY STEP

How to check your cover

  1. Start with what you want to see

Discuss what help is needed. Do you want to compare two home policies, understand costs or simply read a letter together? Sitting beside someone while they read is not the same as creating ongoing sharing.

If you want to use Share with someone, read the feature's terms and the scope of the particular sharing. Do not use the invitation as a general solution for a child, an estate or someone unable to use their own BankID. Those situations need separate handling.

  2. Open Share with someone under About you

In My Forsio, Share with someone is under About you. Follow the invitation steps and check the recipient's details before sending it. Sending a link does not by itself complete sharing.

The invited person identifies themselves with their own BankID and makes their own choice. You then check that it is the right person and read what your approval means. Sharing becomes active only after the flow's confirmations are complete. Read the text shown at that particular step.

  3. Distinguish the shared view from the originals

Sharing can show details such as policy type, insurer, annual premium, insured amount and excess. For some property and vehicle policies, parts of the cover may also be shown. This is not the same view the owner has of their own documents.

Original documents, policy numbers, personal identity numbers and sensitive information are not included in this sharing. Do not assume you can read every term or explain all cover from the shared view. Ask the person to check their own original when a detail is missing.

  4. Review and end your own sharing

Open Sharing & permissions. Under Share with someone, you can see whom you share with and select Stop sharing for that person. Read the confirmation and then check that sharing is no longer active.

Stopping sharing concerns your information. The other person chooses separately whether to continue sharing theirs with you. It does not change insurance agreements with the insurer or recall information the recipient has already seen or noted.

Help someone without taking over their BankID

You can help formulate questions, organise documents or read an explanation. Let the person choose, sign in and approve matters concerning their information themselves. Never use someone else's BankID or security code.

If someone needs a representative with an insurer, ask the insurer what documents and authority it requires. Sharing in Forsio does not replace that check or automatically make you a representative.

A combined view does not mean a shared agreement

Seeing two policies together does not automatically show that both cover the same people, address or period. Check those details in each policy letter before reaching a conclusion about duplicate or missing cover.

An amount in the shared view is not a claims decision either. Missing evidence needs checking with the owner and insurer. Sharing changes neither who is insured nor which insurer needs a claim report.

Fictional example

You control what you share.

Alex and Sam share a home and previously chose sharing in both directions. Sam now ends their own sharing.

Sam's information
Alex loses shared access
Alex's information
Alex controls their own choice
Insurance agreements
Unchanged by the sharing choice

Sam stopping sharing establishes nothing about which policies either person has with insurers.

Common questions

Can I use sharing for a child?

This invitation is for adults with their own BankID. Child policies and information about children use the particular steps shown for a parent or guardian. An adult invitation does not replace them.

Can I cancel the other person's insurance?

No. Share with someone does not authorise you to change or cancel someone else's agreement. Anyone needing a representative must check the insurer's authority requirements separately.

Does stopping sharing cancel my insurance?

No. You change access to your information in Forsio. That choice does not affect your policy with the insurer.
