THE SHORT ANSWER
My Forsio can send a reminder when one of your own policy periods has 60 days left. Emails concern policies with a known end date and the other requirements in place. The date comes from the details in your overview.
A reminder is a reason to read the current policy statement. It does not change the agreement, cancel the policy or establish the next premium. The insurer's statement determines what applies after the period ends. [1]
Keep these points in mind
- Check the policy period's end date in the documents.
- You control reminder emails under Your account.
- Read the next period's price and terms with the insurer.
STEP BY STEP
How to check your cover
Start with the policy dates
Open the policy and check which period the saved statement covers. The renewal date, period end and a bill's payment date are different details. Paying monthly does not mean an annual policy renews each month.
Without an end date, My Forsio cannot calculate this email reminder. Get a current policy letter and add the document. Check the date directly with the insurer if it is still unclear; do not wait for an email to find out when the agreement changes.
[2]Check your email address and preference
Sign in to My Forsio and open Your account. Check your email address and the Renewal reminders switch. If you change the switch, wait for Preference saved. A failed attempt is not a saved change.
The email concerns your own overview when it is active and you have given permission for it. Employer-provided benefits and policies someone else has shared with you are not included in these emails. Having contact through an adviser alone is not the same as using your own overview.
Open My Forsio for the details
The email does not name the insurer, policy type, policy number or amounts. Open My Forsio to see which policy and documents it concerns. If several of your own policies share a reminder day, they can be included in one email.
The wording distinguishes automatic renewal, a policy that ends and a period end where continuation is unknown. An end date in the documents is therefore not, by itself, notice that cover will end. Check continuation in the insurer's current statement.
Compare the new statement when it arrives
Read the next period's price, cover and excess. Add the new document if you want to see it in your overview. Previous and new premiums need to concern the same policy and comparable periods for the difference to be meaningful.
A previous version already replaced by a recorded renewal does not get a separate reminder. Two active agreements for the same item that need clarification may instead appear as something to check. The number of documents is not the number of upcoming renewals.
If you do not receive an email
First check the date, email address and preference. Also check your spam folder. A missing email does not prove that the insurer has no renewal date or that the agreement has ended.
The reminder is scheduled for 60 days before the period ends. If a scheduled run is delayed, the email may arrive a few days later and state the number of days then remaining. The feature does not recreate old reminders indefinitely. You can still read your saved dates in the overview.
You can turn reminder emails off
Open Your account and turn Renewal reminders off. Check that the change is saved. This stops future reminder emails from the feature, but does not recall an email already sent.
The preference does not cancel a policy or change the insurer's own messages. Your saved policies and dates remain in My Forsio. Contact the insurer if you need to change the agreement itself.
Fictional example
A reminder. A statement to read.
Sam has their own home policy with a recorded end date and reminders switched on.
- Scheduled email reminder
- 60 days before the period ends
- Renews automatically?
- UnverifiedRead the insurer's renewal statement.
- Next period's premium
- Not in the previous statementThe current statement is needed.
The email helps Sam remember the check. It establishes neither the next price nor what the insurer has agreed for continuation.
Common questions
Does the switch affect the insurer's own emails?
No. Renewal reminders under Your account controls this feature in My Forsio. The insurer's messages and your preferences with the insurer are handled separately.
Is there an email for every document?
No. The reminder concerns a current policy period, not every saved file. Several versions of a renewed policy should not generate separate emails. Several reminders on the same day may also be included in one email.
Can Forsio renew or cancel for me?
No. The reminder does not change your agreement. Read the insurer's statement and contact the insurer about renewal or cancellation.
