Planning an insurance information integration: which questions need answers?

Define the use case, sources, access and test cases. Separate missing information from zero values and confirm support for your platform.

THE SHORT ANSWER

An integration discussion becomes easier when it starts with the customer's question rather than every conceivable data field. Will the person understand a policy condition, follow a renewal or see an overview of the available evidence? The answer determines which information and checks need exploring.

Forsio's platform page describes structured insurance information, document extraction and analysis. Which parts can support your use case needs discussion and agreement. This guide is a checklist for that conversation, rather than a technical specification or an announcement of immediate access. [1][2]

Keep these points in mind

  • Start with purpose, recipients and the minimum information needed.
  • Keep the source, period and uncertainty when information is displayed elsewhere.
  • Confirm scope and test cases before agreeing an integration approach.

STEP BY STEP

How to review the documents

  1. Describe a specific use case

Write down the question the customer needs to answer and the information needed for it. Distinguish an individual overview from organisation statistics. A business relationship with an employer or member organisation does not automatically grant access to the person's private policies.

Identify which parties process information and for which purposes. The Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, IMY, distinguishes controllers from processors according to who determines purposes and processing. Roles, lawful basis and contracts need assessment for the actual processing. An integration does not settle those questions for you.

    [3][2][6]
  2. Plan the customer's choice and what follows

Forsio's described platform workflow requires the customer's consent to the recipient receiving the information. Check the information, purposes and recipients covered by that choice. An account or technical sign-in does not replace the sharing choice. Sensitive information has additional requirements.

This does not replace your assessment of lawful basis. When processing relies on consent, withdrawal must be as easy as giving consent, IMY explains. Describe how stopped sharing, correction and erasure will be handled, including received copies. Any continued storage needs its own justification.

    [1][6][4]
  3. Agree what each piece of information means

For each relevant fact, identify the source document, version, coverage period and when the evidence was retrieved or checked. Decide how a renewal letter differs from the preceding period and how the same document or contract is identified when received again. Two documents need not be two simultaneous policies.

Separate an amount that is actually zero from missing information, withheld information and technical failure. If JSON is used, null and an omitted property are different, as the JSON Schema documentation explains. The display also needs to preserve meaning: Unverified must not become a definite no.

    [2][5][1]
  4. Test edge cases and assign responsibilities

Review a small fictional test set before using real personal information in a trial. Include renewals, duplicate documents, a missing amount, incomplete retrieval, conflicting information and withdrawn sharing. Check that an empty list is not presented as proof that all cover is absent or complete.

Identify who handles source updates, corrections, user questions and incidents. Describe what is displayed after a failure and how the issue moves forward. Also request a walkthrough of the sources, formats and delivery methods that can be supported under the arrangement being discussed.

    [2][1]

Keep the explanation with the result

A finding may rest on a policy clause, information supplied by the person or explicitly missing evidence. Preserve that distinction when a result appears in another product. A product name does not establish scope, and an incomplete collection does not show the entire insurance portfolio.

Decide how customers see the source and what needs checking. A potential gap is not a claim decision. Analysis does not replace an insurer's assessment or a separate professional assessment.

[1][6]

Make the next step concrete

Bring a short customer-flow sketch, the necessary information and your main test cases to a Forsio walkthrough. Ask what can be shown in a demonstration, what a trial requires and what needs agreeing for your case.

Decide which information may be stored, for how long and who may see it. Do not put complete originals or private information in logs merely because it might be useful later. The defined approach needs assessment against both business needs and data-protection requirements.

[1][2]

Fictional example

New letter. Not automatically a new policy.

A platform sketches how renewed home policy evidence could be displayed. The example is not a delivery format.

Period
Renewal letter and previous period
Annual premium
3 060 kr in the new letter
Coverage amount
Unverified

The missing coverage amount is not zero. The renewal letter needs the correct contract and period before documents are counted or compared.

Common questions

How does an integration discussion with Forsio start?

Book a walkthrough with your use case, required information and test cases. Available support, scope and technical arrangements are confirmed for that discussion; this guide does not promise a ready self-service connection. [1]

Can an empty list mean the customer has no policies?

Not without knowing the reason. Evidence may be missing, retrieval may be incomplete or information unavailable to the recipient. Show the reason and uncertainty instead of translating the list into a definite statement about cover. [1][6]

FOR ORGANISATIONS

Discuss your integration needs.

Bring your use case and test questions. We review relevant evidence and what a defined arrangement may require.
